WA Cricket is deeply saddened by the passing of former female state cricketer Louise Capper, who passed away last week, aged 57.
Vale Louise Capper
A stalwart and premiership player of the Subiaco Women’s Cricket Club, and later a member of Midland-Guildford Cricket Club, Louise Capper became the 185th female to represent Western Australia when she debuted in Brisbane in 1989/90.
A hard-working wicket-keeper and lower-order bat, she played in six WA State teams at National Championships during the 1990’s.
She was a member of the inaugural Western Fury side in 1996/97 when the Women’s National Cricket League first commenced.
Capper contributed much to the administration of women’s cricket in WA in her roles as Manager of the State Under-21 female side in 1989/90, WAWCA Committee Member, WAWCA Senior Vice President (1993/94) and Coordinator of Marketing and Sponsorship (1994/95).
Originally from NSW, she was married to cricket umpire Graham Capper.
A caring and loyal teammate and friend, she passed away in December 2023 aged 57.
WA Cricket sends their condolences to her family.
