Vale Lyle Jones

WA Cricket is mourning the loss of former Country Cricket administrator Lyle Jones, who passed away on Friday December 15, aged 83.

Jones has been a long-standing administrator in Country Cricket, serving on the WA Country Cricket Board for 16 years.

He began his tenure as Central Districts delegate in 1988, before being elected Chairman in 1994, serving in that position for 10 years, before retiring in 2004.

Through his friendly disposition and passion for the game, Lyle built strong relationships with the farming and sporting communities in rural WA and forged important partnerships to help grow country cricket in WA into a sound position.

Lyle was a long-time junior cricket co-ordinator in the Bruce Rock area and was a Life Member of the Bruce Rock-Narembeen Cricket Association (now Eastern Districts Cricket Association).

When Lyle stood down as Chairman of the WA Country Cricket Board, he was honoured with Honorary Life Membership of the WACA in 2005 for his services to country cricket.

Lyle made an outstanding contribution to cricket in Western Australia and will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.

WA Cricket sends its condolences to all members of the Jones family.
