• Chair
    A former Australian cricket player, Avril joined the WACA Board in September 2014 as a Statewide Game Development Committee Representative. Avril played for Western Australia from 1992 to 2012, where she also held the role of Captain of the Western Fury for five seasons. Avril is a Director of Diabetes WA, and a member of the Edith Cowan University School of Business and Law Advisory Board.

  • Deputy Chair
    Michael was elected to the Board in November 2022. He is an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in private practice at SJOG Subiaco Hospital where he is Chair of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee. He has been a WACA Member since 1986. Michael is President of MDA National. He is a Board Member of MDAN Insurance and Amana Living. He is a former state and national President of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

  • Christian was appointed to the Board in August 2017 and has been heavily involved in senior cricket since 1990, including as a player, coach and Life Member of the University Cricket Club and Chairperson of the WA District Council. A practising lawyer over 25 years' experience, Christian serves as General Manager (Legal) at Wesfarmers specialising in mergers and acquisitions, and commercial, data privacy, finance and governance law.

  • A left arm fast bowler, Capes was a member of two Sheffield Shield winning sides in 1986-97 and 1988-89. He played 40 First Class and 17 limited overs matches for the state, claiming 139 wickets including four five-wicket hauls. Currently CEO of Subiaco Football Club, Capes brings an extensive business and sporting background to the Board, including experience in major works projects.

  • Paul holds a bachelor of laws and worked as lawyer in areas of property and insurance law before joining his family’s real estate business. Paul is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a former Board member of the WACA from 2013 - 2015, chairing its Finance and Audit Committee and sitting on its Governance Committee. He is also a former treasurer of the St George’s Rotary Club in Perth, a former Councillor of the City of Stirling and former President of the Mt Lawley Heritage Society.

  • John is a former Cricket Australia Chairman of Selectors and played in six Tests between 1968 to 1972 and represented Western Australia and South Australia in Sheffield Shield cricket between 1962 to 1985. Inverarity was a teacher for 36 years and Headmaster at Hale School for 14 years. He has been a Board Member at WAIS, Fremantle Dockers and member of the UWA Senate. Currently, he is the Chairman of the UWA Sport Advisory Board, a Board Member of Balga Senior High School and two not-for-profits On My Feet (addresses homelessness) and EdConnect (addresses educational disadvantage).

  • Gail McGowan PSM was appointed to the Board in November 2023. She has extensive experience in public administration and served as Director General of the Department of Planning Lands and Heritage until her retirement in 2021. Gail is currently the Chancellor of Murdoch University and Chair of the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority. In addition she is a Director of Foundation Housing and the Mid West Ports Authority. Gail was awarded a Public Service Medal in 2019 for her contribution to industry development and land use planning. She is a Graduate of the AICD, a Fellow of IPAA and a member of Chief Executive Women of Australia.

  • Mike was appointed to the Board in May, 2023, following a previous term in the 1980s. He is a retired Partner of Accounting Firm PwC, where he specialised in the fields of audit, corporate finance and private enterprise. During his professional career, his roles included Managing Partner of the Perth Office and Audit Independence Leader for the Asia-Pacific region. Mike has served on the Boards of a variety of corporate and not-for-profit organisations and is currently President of Claremont Nedlands Cricket Club, where he is also a past player and Life Member. He has been involved in all aspects of District Cricket administration for the best part of his adult life.
