Strong WA presence expected for Perth Stadium ODI

WA could have up to five players in Australia’s team for the first One-Day International of season 2026-27 against England at Perth Stadium on Friday 13 November.

Mahli Beardman, Cooper Connolly, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis and Mitch Marsh have all been named in Australia’s squad to take on the old enemy, as both sides continue their preparations for next year’s ICC Men’s World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

If selected, Beardman would make his ODI debut in his home state, having made his T20I debut against Pakistan earlier this year.

Having played a starring role in the ODI series against South Africa last month, Marsh is set to Captain Australia in both formats against England, with regular 50-over Captain Pat Cummins to miss the series.

Inglis will be out to continue his good form with the bat, having scored an ODI and Test century against Zimbabwe and South Africa respectively on the recent tour.

His century in last week’s third Test in Cape Town saw him become the first Australian player to notch multiple centuries in all three international formats.

Green and Connolly also featured in last week’s Test Match in Cape Town and will be out to solidify their spots in the side ahead of the World Cup.

Marsh and Beardman have also been named in Australia’s squad for the five-match T20I series, starting Saturday 21 November.
