Australian white-ball captain Mitch Marsh is set to make a rare appearance for Western Australia in tomorrow’s day-night One-Day Cup match against Queensland at the WACA Ground.
Marsh back to boost One-Day Cup squad
Fresh from playing a starring role with three half-centuries in Australia’s recent ODI series against South Africa, Marsh is in line to play his first match at State level for season 2026-27.
Marsh’s inclusion is a welcome boost for WA, who are still on the hunt for their first win of the ODC competition.
The 34-year-old’s return is also timely given the hamstring injury sustained by fellow opening batter Sam Fanning in the side’s dramatic two-wicket win in the Sheffield Shield yesterday.
Marsh played two ODC matches for WA last season and is set to use tomorrow’s clash as part of his preparation for Australia’s ODI series against England next month.
Sam Whiteman, who replaced an ill Tom Murray on day two of the recent Sheffield Shield encounter, makes his return to the ODC squad after missing the first two matches.
Mahli Beardman is out of the squad due to Australia A commitments, while Cameron Bancroft is ill and unavailable for selection.
WA’s first match of the ODC season against South Australia was abandoned due to rain, before they were beaten by Tasmania two days later.
Queensland were defeated by Victoria and New South Wales in their opening two matches.
WA squad for the One-Day Cup match against Queensland: Ashton Turner ©, Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Brody Couch, Joel Curtis, Kieran Elliott, Albert Esterhuysen, Liam Haskett, Will Malajczuk, Mitch Marsh, Jordan Quiggin, Sam Whiteman
