Western Australia’s Mitch Marsh has played a starring role in Australia’s One-Day International series against South Africa.
Marsh leads the way in South Africa
The Australian opening batter was at his breathtaking best across the series, scoring a half-century in each of his three knocks.
Marsh was a standout performer in the opening match at Durban, belting five fours and six sixes in his 36-ball 60.
His powerful knock helped Australia reach 90 without loss inside 10 overs in pursuit of 298, however the visitors couldn’t go on with the job and fell 67 runs short.
Marsh stood tall again in the second game of the series, helping his side get within 32 runs of South Africa’s imposing 9-365.
Alongside Travis Head, Marsh got Australia’s run chase off to a flying start, reaching 0-130 in the 17th over, before he was dismissed by Bjorn Fortuin.
He backed that up with 56 in the final game of the series, as Australia secured a 46-run win under the DLS method.
Fellow WA stars Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly also contributed to the win, producing cameo knocks in Australia’s 9-322.
Marsh finished the series as the leading run scorer with 200 runs at 66.66.
The three-match series started Australia’s tour of South Africa, which also encompasses three Test Matches, starting in Durban on Friday.
Green and Connolly both feature in the Test squad, as does wicketkeeper Josh Inglis, who missed the final two matches of the ODI series through injury.
