The new WACA Ground Museum opens on Saturday 3 October, inviting visitors to explore the sport, entertainment and community stories that have shaped one of Western Australia’s best-loved venues.

To celebrate the opening, a limited number of free tickets are available for visitors to be among the first through the doors.
From unforgettable cricketing moments to the people and events that brought crowds together, the Museum brings WACA Ground’s rich heritage to life through objects from the WA Cricket Collection, personal stories and hands-on experiences.
Discover artefacts from WA cricket legends Justin Langer, Zoë Goss, Dennis Lillee, Geoff ‘Swampy’ Marsh, Coralie Towers and Graham McKenzie.
Among the prized exhibits is the ball from cricket’s infamous 1981 underarm incident at the MCG.
With New Zealand needing six runs from the final delivery to tie the match, Australian captain Greg Chappell instructed his younger brother Trevor to bowl underarm along the ground, denying batter Brian McKechnie the chance to hit a six. The decision sparked outrage on both sides of the Tasman and remains one of cricket’s most controversial moments, resulting in permanent changes to the rules of the game.

The Howzat?! interactive zone invites visitors to battle the WACA Ground pitch, with games, fun interactives and family areas offering plenty for curious minds and budding cricketers to explore.

Following opening day, regular Museum hours begin on Tuesday 6 October, from 10am to 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Find the Museum at Gate 1, WACA Ground, Nelson Crescent, East Perth.
General admission tickets are available at the Museum:

- Children aged 4 to 16: $5
- WACA Members and concession: $5

Located in the Prindiville Building, the Museum forms part of the broader public art and site interpretation program incorporated throughout the transformed precinct.
The program has been made possible by generous donors including the Wright Burt Foundation, and a $5.85 million Lotterywest grant supporting the transformation of the WACA Ground.
The grant has also supported the Lotterywest Karda Playspace, public art including bronze statues, sensory rooms and all-ability changing facilities, helping make the WACA Ground more accessible and welcoming for the whole community.
