Inglis and Connolly lead the way in Zimbabwe

Inglis scored his second ODI century in the final match of the series, as Australia secured a dramatic one-wicket win.

Set for 272 for victory, Australia were under pressure early in the run chase at 2-25 after opening batters Travis Head and Mitch Marsh departed in the first four overs.

Inglis and Connolly then steadied the ship for the visitors, putting on 52 for the third wicket when the latter departed.

Inglis belted 11 fours in his 103 off 102 balls, before departing with Australia needing 45 to win inside the final nine overs.

Tailenders Nathan Ellis and Spencer Johnson put on 27 runs for the final wicket, to seal the win.

It was Inglis’ first ODI century since his unbeaten 120 against England in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Connolly was named Player of the Series for his 150 runs and three wickets.

The powerful left-handed batter compiled an important 51 off 46 balls in the first match of the series, before an equally impressive 78 off 69 deliveries in the second match.

Connolly also played an important role with the ball in the second match of the series, taking 2-25 off 6.1 overs, including the vital wicket of Zimbabwe Captain Sikander Raza.

Marsh didn’t go through the series without making an impact either, scoring 53 in the second match and help setup an imposing 6-356.

Allrounder Cameron Green was in the squad for the series but didn’t take part due to a minor shoulder injury.

Australia now heads to South Africa for another three-match ODI series.

Durban, Johannesburg and Potchefstroom will host the three matches on Thursday, Sunday and Wednesday 30 September respectively.
