Green’s Strong Form Continues In Mackay

Fresh from scoring his first Century in Australia in the opening match of the series in Darwin, Green looked a class above most other batters in Mackay, scoring a match-high 67 off 105 balls.

As was the case in Darwin, Australia was under early pressure when Green strode to the crease.

After dismissing Bangladesh for just 64 on the opening day of the match, Australia stumbled to 3-41 in response.

Green got his innings underway with a slightly streaky boundary off an outside edge through backward point, as Australia started to build a first innings lead.

The towering right-hander quickly settled into his innings though, hitting back-to-back boundaries off Hasan Mahmud and take the fourth-wicket partnership with Steve Smith to 50.

He had another close call on 21 when he played a pull shot to a short ball from Shoriful Islam that fell just short of Mahmud at fine leg.

With wickets falling around him at the end of the opening day, Green remained a pillar of strength at the other end with some exemplary shot making carrying him to another half century.

The 27-year-old was dismissed LBW by a superb delivery from Shoriful early on the second morning with his side holding a commanding 122-run lead.

Australia dismissed Bangladesh for 95 in the second innings and seal a dominant win by an innings and 51 runs.

Green wasn’t called upon to bowl in the match, as opening bowler Mitchell Starc took 10 wickets in a Player of the Match performance.

Green finished the series, which was dominated by the fast bowlers, with a respectable 184 runs at 61.33.
