Cricket, community and conversation: three things that sit at the heart of every strong club.
Beyond the Boundary: Supporting Cricket in WA
This year, WA Cricket is bringing them together for Beyond the Boundary: Supporting Clubs Across WA Cricket, a forum-style event designed to help volunteers, coaches, coordinators and committee members build stronger, more resilient clubs.
Held in collaboration with Healthway as part of the Think Mental Health initiative, the forum reflects WA Cricket's ongoing commitment to supporting mental health and wellbeing across the state. Because when clubs come together through cricket, community and conversation, they can take mental health and wellbeing well beyond the boundary of the game itself.
What’s on the day
Running from 9:30am to 1:00pm at the Wally Edwards Function Centre (guests welcome from 9:15am with coffee and tea), the day features three specialist keynote sessions plus practical breakout options:
- Building Resilience through Sport, with Kellie Lewis from The Mental Health Project, exploring how confidence, connection and mental resilience are built through the game.
- Sport Governance and Conflict Resolution, with Matt Sinclair from Sport Integrity Australia, on keeping clubs united, accountable and thriving.
- AI in Clubs, with Ian Crawford of Candor Training and Consultancy, a practical, beginner-friendly session on using AI to cut admin, sharpen communication and support volunteers, no prior experience needed.
- Introducing Coach360, with Cameron Tradell from Cricket Australia, unpacking the newly released coaching framework and what it means for coach development at every level.
The day wraps with networking over finger food and drinks, a chance to swap ideas with clubs from across the state.
Who should come
This forum is built for the people who keep clubs running: parents, coaches (especially those new to the role), committee members and anyone in the cricket space looking to upskill. With one keynote focused squarely on coaching, clubs are encouraged to pass this invitation on to their full network. The more voices in the room, the stronger the conversation.
Find your way to okay
Getting active together can help us all find our way to okay. This forum is a chance to invest a morning in the people who make community cricket work, and take something practical back to your club.
