All eyes will be on the WACA Ground when the WA Women’s team launches its 2026-27 Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) campaign against Tasmania on Tuesday 29 September.
WACA To Host WNCL Under Lights
Fresh from taking significant strides forward in 2025-26, WA will feature regularly under lights, with its entire home fixture made up of day-night contests.
WA begins its campaign with back-to-back games against Tasmania (Tuesday 29 September and Thursday 1 October) before pausing for Perth Scorchers’ T20 Spring Challenge and Weber Women’s Big Bash League campaigns.
A heavily back-ended fixture then sees Becky Grundy’s team fight for the Christmas chocolates when they face South Australia at Karen Rolton Oval in the lead up to the festive season (Monday 14 and Wednesday 16 December).
Starting the new year in home comforts, WA then hosts Victoria on Friday 8 and Sunday 10 January at the WACA Ground.
Two interstate matchups underpin the middle of the season, stopping off in the nation’s capital to face ACT Meteors at EPC Solar Park (Wednesday 3 and Friday 5 February). Later that month, WA ventures to the Sunshine State to take on reigning champions Queensland at Allan Border Field (Sunday 21 and Tuesday 23 February).
WA rounds out its regular season against New South Wales at the WACA Ground (Wednesday 10 and Friday 12 March), eight days before the WNCL Final on Saturday 20 March.
A mixture of WA and Scorchers players, meanwhile, will suit up for this year’s Spring Challenge leading into Weber WBBL|12.
Perth Scorchers face Melbourne Renegades (Monday 12 October), Adelaide Strikers (Tuesday 13 October), Hobart Hurricanes (Saturday 17 October) and Sydney Thunder (Sunday 18 October) in quick succession.
The final is scheduled for Wednesday 21 October at Cricket Central.
All Spring Challenge games will be played at a mixture of Blacktown International Sports Park and Bankstown Oval.
WA Women's Head Coach Becky Grundy said she is excited to see how the team progresses this year.
“The team took a big step forward last season and really showed we are a side to be feared on our home deck.
“It’s always a nice feeling to open our season at home in front of our Members and fans, and we’re also excited to be playing cricket in Adelaide at such a festive time of the year for cricket fans.
“I’m excited to see how we build upon our seven wins last season and work towards contesting for WA’s second WNCL title.”
WA Cricket General Manager - High Performance Cricket & Elite Teams Kade Harvey said the team is poised to take the next step this summer.
“Our WNCL squad showed last season they are capable of matching it with any side in the competition, and we believe the foundations are in place for another significant step forward in 2026-27,” he said.
“Having six match days at the WACA Ground is a fantastic opportunity for Members and supporters to get behind the team and showcase elite women’s cricket.
“There is genuine optimism around what this squad can achieve, and we look forward to seeing the team continue its development and push for more success.”
