WA Men’s team Head Coach Beau Casson has expressed his delight at the opportunities that await his side for season 2026-27, following the release of fixtures earlier this week.

A home Sheffield Shield match at Optus Stadium and away games at each of the remaining state’s Test Match venues are the highlights of the fixture, which commences on Friday 18 September.
WA’s clash with Tasmania at Optus Stadium from Monday 23 November – Thursday 26 November marks the first time a Sheffield Shield match will be played at the venue since 2018.
Casson, who’s gearing up for his first season in the role as Head Coach, said the match would be a big occasion for his team.
“It’s a beautiful stadium,” he said.
“I know the players are very excited to get there.
“We’re very excited to get there, but most importantly, we look forward to seeing all the Members make the trek across the bridge and show their support.”
WA’s four remaining home Sheffield Shield games will be held at the WACA Ground, starting with the season opener against Queensland from Thursday 8 October.
For the first time since season 2019-20, WA’s away games have been scheduled at the MCG, SCG, The GABBA, Adelaide Oval and Ninja Stadium.
Casson said it would be a valuable experience for his side to play at the Test Match venues.
“We want to win trophies as Western Australian cricket sides, but we want to produce Test Match cricketers.
“To be able to play Test Cricket for your country and know you’ve had experience at all those major venues, that’s an incredibly important part of making sure you’re ready to go when those opportunities present.”
Casson also said the chance to play four One-Day Cup and two Sheffield Shield matches at the WACA Ground before having to travel over east gave WA an opportunity to build momentum early in the season.
