Less than six months after making his international debut, WA quick Mahli Beardman is excited at the prospect of another bumper summer of cricket in Perth.
Beardman Sets Sights On Summer
Beardman was called up to Australia’s T20 squad that toured Pakistan earlier this year, where he made his first appearance in national colours in the opening match of the series.
Speaking after tickets for A Summer Like No Other went on sale on Monday, Beardman said the experience in Pakistan had left him hoping for more opportunities in national colours.
“That’s the dream growing up to try and represent your country as much as possible,” he said.
“The focus is just playing good cricket for WA, whether that’s the Scorchers or here (at the WACA Ground).
“Playing cricket is the main priority.
“If an opportunity arises for higher honours, then I’ll try and take that with both hands.”
Fierce rivals England and New Zealand will head play a One-Day International and Test Match respectively at Perth Stadium later this year, following a record-breaking 2025-2026 season.
After winning last summer’s Ashes series 4-1, Australia will be out to register another win over England when the sides meet in the opening One-Day International of the three-match series at Perth Stadium on Friday 13 November.
For a fifth consecutive season, the NRMA Insurance West Test kicks off a marquee Test series, and this year it's New Zealand under the spotlight.
The Kiwis return to Perth for the first time in nearly seven years, with the Test running Wednesday 9 to Sunday 13 December.
Beardman said he expected both fixtures to be absorbing contests and called upon WACA Members and fellow cricket fans to get behind both matches.
“I think it’s awesome to have England back again,” he said.
“After the incredible Ashes campaign and some massive crowds, I think it’ll be an awesome opportunity for fans to come and watch some good cricket be played.
“New Zealand are an incredible team as well and they always pose a threat.
“When you’re at Optus and you look up at the vertical walls of 50,000 people and you sense a real feeling of the members and home crowd, it’s definitely an advantage.
“As a playing group, we lean on it massively.”
