WA Men's Players Performing On International Stage

Several members of the WA men's squad have spent the past two months playing in various competitions around the world.

Here's an update on how the players are faring overseas.

Hilton Cartwright (Hampshire)

Cartwright linked up with Hampshire for the Vitality Blast last month and has made an immediate impact in the middle order. In his second appearance of the season against Essex, Cartwright belted seven boundaries in his unbeaten 46 off 21 balls. He backed that up with unbeaten scores of 29 and 24 against Middlesex and Sussex respectively. The 34-year-old has notched 121 runs in his five innings, in which he’s been dismissed just once. Hampshire sit top of the South Group of the Blast with four wins and one loss from five outings.

Ashton Turner (Leicestershire)

After captaining Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League, Turner has also shifted his attention to the Blast, where he’s linked up with Leicestershire. Turner has been one of the shining lights for Leics, scoring 124 runs in four innings at 31. The allrounder made 21 and took 1-28 off four over in his side’s most recent outing against Lancashire, which was their first win of the season. Two days earlier, Turner’s brute power was on display in a 22-ball 53 against Derbyshire.

Cameron Bancroft (Gloucestershire)

It’s been a tough start for Bancroft’s Gloucestershire side to the new County season, with just one win from six games. The opening batter, who is also captaining his side, has registered three half-centuries in six games, including a second innings 82 in his most recent outing against Northamptonshire.

Jhye Richardson (Yorkshire)

Richardson has spent the past two months playing in the County Championship alongside the likes England Test team members Joe Root and Harry Brook at Yorkshire. Richardson’s four games yielded six wickets at 66.33 but contributed strongly to the side’s two wins over Somerset and Surrey. It wasn’t just with the ball where Richardson helped Yorkshire, scoring a valuable half-century in the win over Somerset.

Sam Whiteman (Yorkshire)

Like Richardson, Whiteman has featured prominently for Yorkshire through the early part of the English summer. The left-hander has compiled 191 runs at 58.76 in his three outings, including a stylish 101 against Sussex in his most recent match. Prior to that, Whiteman made scores of 48 and 24 in a drawn match against Glamorgan at Cardiff.

Cameron Green (IPL/Australia)

Green enjoyed a strong Indian Premier League campaign with Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring 322 runs at 32.20 and taking seven wickets at 33.42. He has since joined the Australian One-Day team in Pakistan for the three-match series and scored his third ODI half-century in the side’s win in the second game.

Josh Inglis (IPL/Australia)

Inglis’ IPL campaign was short but successful on a personal note, hitting three half-centuries from five outings. Like Green, Inglis has also headed to Pakistan for the Australia’s ODI tour, where he’s captaining the side. Inglis also played an instrumental role in Australia’s win in the second match of the series, scoring a crucial half-century, before he produced a slick piece of wicketkeeping to execute the match-winning stumping.

Aaron Hardie (PSL/Australia)

Less than a month after his heroics helped Peshawar Zalmi claim the Pakistan Super League title, Hardie was appointed WA’s new Sheffield Shield captain for season 2026-27. The allrounder is now bound for Bangladesh, where he’s set to join Australia’s squad for the three-match T20 series from June 16.

Cooper Connolly (IPL/Australia)

Connolly was one of Punjab Kings standout performers in his first IPL campaign, scoring 491 runs at 44.63. The left-hander was called into Australia’s squad for the ongoing One-Day series against Pakistan. He will also head to Bangladesh next week for Australia’s One-Day and T20 series.

Mitch Marsh (IPL/Australia)

Marsh was also a star performer for his side Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, scoring 563 runs at 43.30. His 111 against eventual champions Royal Challengers Bangalore was one of the standout efforts of the tournament. Marsh was subsequently ruled out of the ongoing tour of Pakistan with an ankle injury. He has been named in Australia’s ODI and T20 squads for the tour of Bangladesh.
