WA Women's Squad Confirmed for 2026-27

WA has finalised its Women’s playing squad for the 2026-27 season, adding a fiery quick bowler and two exciting youngsters to the 20-player list.

The Squad contains four players on Cricket Australia contracts, 15 on the primary list and one rookie.

Queensland Fire’s Ruby Strange is making the move from maroon to the black and gold, after impressing in her debut season for Perth Scorchers in the Weber WBBL|11 season, last summer.

The 23-year-old is coming off a triumphant season for Queensland where they took home the Ruth Preddy Cup in the recent Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) season and is a two-time Kath Smith Medallist in Premier Cricket.

The right-arm fast bowler will add strength to WA’s bowling stocks, joining the likes of Ebony Hoskin and Chloe Ainsworth in a young pace attack.

Teenagers Tegan Williamson and Chloe Bartholomew join Strange on the contract list, having both come through the WA Cricket pathways.

17-year-old Williamson was named captain for Australia in the ongoing Under 19’s Tri-Series against England and Sri Lanka.

19-year-old Bartholomew has been rookie contracted, after making her WA debut during the 2024-25 season and regularly representing WA in the Women’s Second XI for the last two seasons. 

Pace bowler Maddie White has been elevated onto the senior list after one season as a rookie.

Fast bowler Chloe Ainsworth has been offered her maiden Cricket Australia contract after what has been incredible rise over the last three seasons, including making her first century again Victoria during the recent WNCL season. 

Ainsworth is joined by wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney, leg-spinner Alana King, and allrounder Heather Graham on Cricket Australia’s contract list.

Spinner Charis Bekker has decided to step away from cricket to pursue further education in the United States, whilst veteran bowler Piepa Cleary retired earlier this year. 

The WA Women’s team will return from annual leave on Monday 18 May. 

WA Cricket General Manager - High Performance Cricket & Elite Teams Kade Harvey said he is pleased with the mix of youth and experience in the squad.

“We are pleased to retain the main core of our group, who really made a push up the ladder in the back end of last season,” he said.

“We were impressed by what Ruby brought to the Scorchers last season and are excited to have her in Perth full-time.

“It’s always great to see our pathways produce ready-made talent and we are excited to see more of Tegan and Chloe in the black and gold. 

“It’s exciting to see Chloe get her first Cricket Australia contract and know she will give everything she can when she is available to play for WA.

“We are confident that this list, with the blend of youth and experience, will have WA in a strong position come season 2026-27.”
