WA Cricket is thrilled to confirm long-time assistant Beau Casson will take over as Head Coach of the WA Men’s team from the 2026–27 season.
Beau Casson to Lead WA's Men Into New Era
Casson has signed a three-year deal and will succeed WA great Adam Voges, who will coach the side for the final time in this week’s Sheffield Shield clash against New South Wales at Cricket Central, starting Saturday, March 14.
The 43-year-old has spent the past seven seasons working under Voges as an assistant coach with both the WA men’s program and the Perth Scorchers in the KFC Big Bash League.
Prior to returning west, Casson spent five seasons in Sydney as an assistant coach with New South Wales and the Sydney Thunder.

During his time in WA’s coaching setup, Casson has played a key role in a golden era for the program, contributing to four One-Day Cup triumphs and three Sheffield Shield titles.
Highly regarded for both his technical knowledge and interpersonal skills, he has overseen the state’s batting, spin-bowling and fielding programs at various stages of his coaching apprenticeship.
Casson also enjoyed a distinguished playing career before moving into coaching.
The former spin-bowling all-rounder became Australia’s 401st Test player when he earned his Baggy Green against the West Indies in 2008.
He claimed 123 wickets and scored more than 1,500 runs in 53 first-class matches before medically retiring at the age of 28.
Casson said he was excited by the opportunity to lead the state program and continue the foundations built under Voges.
“I am excited to be given the opportunity to take on the role of Head Coach of the WA Men’s team,” Casson said.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with Adam Voges and the remainder of the coaching staff over the past seven seasons and have been proud of what we have been able to achieve in that time.
“Adam did a wonderful job to create an environment that brought the best out of all our players, which is something I’m looking forward to building on.”
Casson said a major focus would be helping players continue to push for national selection while maintaining the team’s success at domestic level.
“I want our players to strive for excellence and give them the best opportunity to push for higher honours,” he said.
“I am confident we have the playing group that can bring WA more success in both formats of the game.”
WA Cricket General Manager – High Performance Cricket and Elite Teams Kade Harvey said Casson’s long association with the program made him an ideal choice to lead the team into its next phase.
“Beau has made a tremendous contribution to WA Cricket in both a playing and coaching capacity for more than a decade,” Harvey said.
“Since joining the coaching panel in 2019, Beau has worked incredibly hard with our players and his fellow coaches and has garnered their respect and trust.
“Beau has a deep understanding of the game and, more specifically, the WA Cricket landscape and we are confident that will see our players thrive under his tutelage.
“We are looking forward to Beau leading our Men’s team for at least the next three seasons and leaving his mark on a new era in WA Cricket.”
