Lucy Dias Named WA Cricket Volunteer of the Month for November 2025

Lucy Dias from Applecross Cricket Club has been named WA Cricket’s Volunteer of the Month for November 2025, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to inclusive cricket through the club’s Star Blast program.

Lucy serves as Applecross Cricket Club’s Star Blast Coordinator, overseeing the delivery of the inclusive Woolworths Cricket Blasters program designed to provide a fun, supportive and tailored cricket experience for children with a wide range of disability needs.

Widely praised for her caring and positive approach, Lucy encourages participants to develop their cricket skills in a way that builds confidence without being patronising. She has also gone above and beyond in preparing specialised resources to support participants, including laminated visual lesson plans, weekly at-home practice guides for families that build on each session, a drinks-break picnic mat and a dedicated water bottle bucket to create consistency and structure.

At the end of every session, Lucy takes the time to individually recognise each participant, celebrating not only cricket skills but also personal achievements such as encouraging others, having a go and showing resilience. These moments of acknowledgement have become a valued part of the program for both participants and their families.

Lucy is also a strong advocate for inclusive cricket within her club, actively promoting the need for appropriate resources and additional volunteers to ensure participants receive the care and support required. Her commitment to defending and strengthening the Star Blast program has helped lay strong foundations for its long-term success at Applecross Cricket Club.

WA Cricket congratulates Lucy on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for the positive and lasting impact she continues to have on participants, families and the broader cricket community. It is volunteers like Lucy who embody WA Cricket’s values of inclusion, collaboration, excellence and celebration.
