WA trio Jhye Richardson, Teague Wyllie and Joel Curtis have been selected to play against touring England sides over the next fortnight.
WA Trio Set To Take On England Sides
Richardson and Wyllie were last week named in a Cricket Australia XI to take on England’s ‘A’ side in a first-class match beginning at Lilac Hill on Friday.
The match is set to be another significant milestone on Richardson’s return from shoulder surgery earlier this year.
Fittingly, the commencement of the match on Friday will also mark almost 12 months to the day since Richardson’s most recent first-class appearance.
The 29-year-old has bowled 28 overs in three Premier Cricket outings for Fremantle in preparation for his first-class return.
Wyllie also gets a chance to press his claims for a return to the WA Sheffield Shield side, having missed selection in the first four rounds of the season.
Wyllie’s lone appearance for WA this season saw him score a half-century on his One-Day Cup debut against Tasmania in Hobart.
Meanwhile, Curtis will link up with the Prime Minister’s XI at the end of the month for a two-day pink-ball contest against England in Canberra.
The match is set to serve as an important lead up for England to the second NRMA Insurance Test Match in Brisbane.
Curtis started the season in stunning fashion, scoring a century in the opening game of the One-Day Cup season against Queensland.
The wicketkeeper also scored a crucial half-century in WA’s narrow Sheffield Shield defeat at the hands of Tasmania in Hobart.
