WNCL Season 2025-26 Preview

After what was a challenging 2024-25 Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) campaign which saw Western Australia finish seventh with three wins from 12 matches, WA Women enter the 2025-26 season with a fresh list and an attack first mindset.

One of the more significant stories heading into the summer is the welcome return of Australian all-rounder Heather Graham.

Graham rejoins her home state after four seasons in Tasmania. Her experience with success with the Tigers is expected to bring leadership, composure and match-winning ability.

Another player to join the list is exciting swing bowler Ebony Hoskins who crosses over from New South Wales. Having impressed with the Scorchers during last season’s Weber Women’s Big Bash League, Hoskin adds plenty of depth to the pace stocks.

The team is packed with plenty of young stars, itching to leave their mark on the WA cricketing ledger.

Ines McKeon has earnt her first state contract after topping the run scoring for WA at the U19 Championships, totally 182 runs across eight innings.

Rebecca McGrath and Maddie White have also graduated to senior state ranks of the back of strong from in Premier Cricket, with McGrath taking home the Karen Read Medal.

After an outstanding 2024-25 campaign, top order batter Maddy Darke will be looking to build upon her recent Australia A form, where she made a tidy 68 in the second innings against India A.

Spin remains a strong factor with the team, with Lilly Mills and Amy Edgar recently representing Australia A against India A. Edgar enters the WNCL off the back of five second innings wickets in Australia A’s win over India A.

The team will once again be led by captain Chole Piparo, who herself spent the offseason playing for Italy in the Netherlands.

WA will start their 2025-26 WNCL season with a highly anticipated game against Queensland on their home deck, the WACA Ground on September 24.
