WA Men's team Venture to Swan Valley

A key pillar of the WA men’s pre-season took place late last month in the form of a two-day camp in the Swan Valley.

The squad was put through a series of physical and team-building activities at Venture Swan Valley ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Activities included canoeing, leap of faith and a challenging commando course.

WA Men’s Head Coach Adam Voges said the camp provided the squad a chance to spend valuable time together ahead of the 2025-26 season.

“It’s important to get the connection in the group,” Voges said.

“That’s the main piece of what we’re trying to get out of it in a pre-season where guys are often off around the world in various competitions.

“It was good to get the core of the squad back connecting and having competitive fun.”

For top-order batter Sam Fanning, the camp provided the chance for him and his teammates to gain a deeper understanding of each other away from playing cricket.

“It’s not something we expected, but it was so amazing for the group to come out here,” Fanning said.

“We do a lot of stuff on the cricket field and at training, but to do something like this, which we don’t get the opportunity to do every day, is important.

“You get to know people on a deeper level, and you get challenged with tough circumstances, but you see how you can come out on top.”

Voges was also complementary of the facilities at Venture Swan Valley.

“It was different to previous camps we had been on,” he said.

“The place itself was brilliant, and the staff accommodated for us.

“It was such a positive experience for the group.”

The WA men’s season starts on 21 September with a One-Day Cup clash against Queensland at Allan Border Field.
