From Blast to Big Picture: Train & Transform Sessions Coming This September

In the lead-up to the 2025-26 season, WA Cricket will host a series of Train & Transform community engagement sessions for local club parents and volunteers, designed to upskill and connect the people driving the game at grassroots level.

Running across Perth suburbs and at the WACA Ground, the sessions will offer training in Woolworths Cricket Blast support, coaching, umpiring and child safety.

Participants in the umpiring or coaching streams will have the opportunity to gain formal accreditation, enhancing the knowledge and professionalism of key community members supporting junior cricket.

WA Cricket Regional Cricket Manager Jacob Paolino said combining these opportunities into a single program would create a unique and collaborative learning environment.

“We often run coaching, umpiring and Woolworths Cricket Blast training separately, which serves a purpose but misses the way these roles interact to deliver a positive player experience and connect participants to the game at key recruitment and retention stages,” Paolino said.

“The chance to deliver key child safeguarding messages to a wider forum will improve awareness and adoption of best practice across community cricket, which we know leads to higher player and volunteer satisfaction.

“These sessions will also train and upskill our local community support network of parents and volunteers to transform the club experience for participants and families”

Each session will begin with a combined introduction before attendees break off into tailored workshops for coaching, umpiring and Cricket Blast, ensuring maximum development in a short timeframe.

The Train & Transform program is scheduled for late September, with dates and venues to be confirmed. Registration details will be shared via the WA Community Cricket Facebook page, and all parents and volunteers are encouraged to take part.
