WA Cricket unveils Impressive Import

The WACA Ground is set to make a splash like never before, with the installation of the iconic Ground’s new waterslides.

After being imported from Turkey, more than 450 fibreglass and steel components are taking shape in a delicate operation lasting up to four weeks.

In what’s set to become an icon of the city’s east end, vibrant red fibreglass sections form the shape of an iconic cricket ball complete with striking white stitching along the loop.

Each piece will be meticulously craned-in and then secured by contractor ADCO, with the arch alone weighing more than 800 kilograms.

The waterslides are the centrepiece of the community resort-style aquatic facility delivered by the WACA Ground Improvement Project which also features:
•    A six-lane, outdoor 50m pool overlooking the pitch
•    Indoor learn-to-swim pool
•    A family-friendly splash pad

The WACA Ground Improvement Project is jointly funded by the Australian Government, Western Australian Government and City of Perth, in partnership with WA Cricket and Cricket Australia, as part of the $1.7 billion Perth City Deal.

Testing and commissioning of the waterslide will be completed in coming months with the project on track to open to the public in November.
