WA Volunteers Take Out National Awards

Volunteers across Western Australia have been recognised at the recent National Community Cricket Awards, which celebrates the incredible work that volunteers do both on and off the field at their local cricket clubs.

Metropolitan Junior Community Cricket was named the Community Cricket Association of the Year, Swan Valley Cricket Club won the Community Cricket Partnership of the Year award, and Warwick Greenwood Cricket Club walked away winners in the Technology and Media Initiative of the Year category.

Coinciding with National Volunteer Week (19 May – 25 May), the annual awards celebrate excellence in 16 categories, highlighting individuals, clubs, and associations that have made a positive impact in their communities.

WA Cricket held a special event at the iconic WACA Ground to celebrate our national winners and pay tribute to all the work volunteers give to their cricket clubs and local communities.

Quotes attributable to WA Cricket General Manager – Community Cricket, Jo Davies:

“National Volunteers Week highlights the incredible stories about the dedicated volunteers we have within our cricketing community, right around the state.

“The week presents an opportunity to share these amazing stories and hear from the people who make our community cricket clubs what they are.

“Community cricket wouldn’t be what it is without those either behind the scenes or out on the field on game days.

“Congratulations to all of our winners and highly commended volunteers and clubs. We can’t thank our volunteers enough for all they do in community cricket.”

Quotes attributable to Cricket Australia Chief of Cricket, James Allsopp:

“The National Community Cricket Awards recognise the outstanding contributions of individuals and clubs who dedicate their time and effort to support cricket across Australia. Volunteers are the backbone of grassroots cricket, playing a vital role in ensuring its continued growth and success in local communities.

“These awards highlight the dedication and commitment of those who make cricket more accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for players of all ages and abilities. Their efforts – whether in administration, coaching, officiating, or community engagement – help strengthen clubs and create welcoming environments for everyone involved.

“On behalf of Cricket Australia, I congratulate all the winners and nominees for their remarkable achievements. Their hard work and passion make a meaningful difference, and we sincerely appreciate everything they do to support the game.”
