Dermody selected in U16 Team of the Tournament

Perth’s Alyssa Dermody has been rewarded for her outstanding performance in the recent Cricket Australia Under 16 National Female Championships played in Ballarat, by being named in the Team of the Tournament.

Dermody was selected in the Team of the Tournament after finishing on the leading run-scorers tally, after accumulating 268 runs at an average of 44.6 from nine matches.

She produced consistently at the top of the order for an emerging WA side, who finished the week-long Championships with five wins from nine matches.

The Perth product started the tournament in bright fashion, with consecutive half-centuries against Victoria Country (64) and New South Wales Metro (63) before notching another fifty against Tasmania (74) in the last round robin fixture.

Dermody’s performances continue on a fine summer for the teenager, who has been a dominant player in the Female Youth League in WA Premier Cricket.

A top-order wicketkeeper batter by trade, Dermody has scored 443 runs at a remarkable average of 88.6, with five half-centuries.

Other notable performances for WA at the Championships include Emily Jacobs who compiled 182 runs at 30.33, while Emma Krynauw took 10 wickets at 10.9 to finish as her side’s leading wicket-taker.
