WA Cricket is pleased to announce a building contract for the WACA Ground Improvement Project has been finalised with one of Australia's oldest and most established construction companies.
WACA Ground Improvement Project moves into next phase with ADCO
The contract with ADCO Constructions covers the demolition of existing structures and construction of the Project and aquatic facility.
Several milestones have already been reached in the Project including the oval lengthening, East and West Bank upgrades, lighting upgrades, and demolition of the Inverarity and Prindiville stands, indoor training centre, maintenance sheds and a light tower.
Further demolition and site preparation works are currently underway with the next major phase of the build due to commence in February 2024 when piling and aquatic facility excavation works commence.
The WACA Ground Improvement Project is one of the most iconic projects being delivered as part of the 10-year, $1.66 billion Perth City Deal.
The joint deal between the Australian and State Governments, and the City of Perth is delivering social and community infrastructure to create a more vibrant and activated city and improve local amenity for inner-city residents.
WA Cricket CEO Christina Matthews says it is great to be working with ADCO as the WACA Ground Improvement Project continues to progress.
“When you come see a game of cricket at the WACA Ground this summer, you will notice the amount of work we are undertaking as part of the WACA Ground Improvement Project,” Matthews said.
“We are transforming the WACA Ground into a year-round community and sporting hub and are thrilled to have ADCO on board to lead us through the next phase of the build.
“The WACA Ground will be a world-class inclusive community and sporting facility for all Western Australians to enjoy and we look forward to monitoring the progress of the build as it continues to move forward.”
ADCO's Managing Director Neil Harding says the company is incredibly excited to be selected as the builder of choice for the WACA Ground Improvement Project.
“The WACA Ground is iconic across the world, and we are very proud to be part of the ground’s future, ensuring the long and distinguished history of cricket continues for the future generation of Western Australians and visitors alike,” Harding said.
“Community has been central to the ADCO story for over 50 years, and we look forward to working with WA Cricket and continuing the strong relationship we have built with Perth’s local community during construction of this project.”
The WACA Ground Improvement Project is slated for completion in late 2025.
