This evolution comes after four years of extensive research which showed there was confusion around the role of the Association as the governing body for cricket and the Ground as a venue having the same name.

WA Cricket will ensure our organisation can truly support all areas of cricket, while the iconic WACA Ground naming will remain the same.

With works starting for the Ground Improvement Project, it is the perfect time to ensure a clear distinction between the roles the Ground and the Association play.

As the business continues to expand it is important for WA Cricket to grow the reach, profile and diversity of cricket across WA, from grassroots to elite.

WA Cricket CEO, Christina Matthews said;

“This is an exciting time for cricket in WA, and we are looking forward to what this evolution brings.

“WA Cricket represents the whole state and everyone involved in cricket not just the Association and the Ground.

“The WACA Ground is iconic around the world and as the Ground Improvement Project begins giving new life to the venue, it’s the perfect time to revitalise the organisation too.

“We are WA Cricket, it’s our legacy.”
