Perth cricket lovers get the country’s first taste of Test cricket this summer, when Australia take on an exciting West Indies outfit in the first Test of the Men’s Vodafone Test Series starting Wednesday 30 November.

This match will bridge a 1,081-day gap between Tests in WA dating back to December 2019, when Australia smashed New Zealand in a day-night contest at Perth Stadium.

WA Cricket CEO Christina Matthews said Perth cricket fans won’t want to miss out on the thrilling season of cricket that awaits.

“It’s very exciting knowing that in less than three months’ time our members and fans will be witnessing some of the world’s best cricket contests at our state-of-the-art stadium.

“We know how passionate the WA community is about their cricket and look forward to creating an electric atmosphere at Perth Stadium for all to enjoy and remember for a long time coming.

“We’re hoping for a packed-out crowd for the opening T20 battle between old rivals Australia and England and encourage all WA families to come along to the match which takes place on the last Sunday of the October school holidays.”

Comments attributable to Western Australian Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hon. David Templeman MLA:

“This summer is going to be epic for Perth and WA cricket fans. For the first time since 2019 we host men’s international cricketing sides, bringing in players and fans from overseas and interstate, and providing a spectacle for local supporters.

“What better way to warm up than a T20 International match between historic rivals Australia and England at the world’s best sporting ground – Optus Stadium. The Barmy Army should prepare to be wowed.

“Western Australia is also hosting the country’s first Test of the summer season at Optus Stadium as Australia takes on the Windies. And before that we’ve got an exciting series of T20 World Cup games.”
