The Lions were asked to bat first by South Perth on a WACA Ground wicket that favoured the bowling team and posted just 118 after suffering a significant middle-order collapse.

Hart, however, responded by ripping through South Perth’s top order to collect a five-wicket haul by the end of the first day’s action.

Resuming play on 8-81 the following morning, South Perth lost an early wicket to Hart’s pace before a productive 27-run stand brought them within two runs of securing a memorable title.

But Hart intervened again with the definitive blow, drawing the edge of Liam Dallimore to claim the career-best figures of 7-47 from 22.3 overs.

South Perth pushed for an outright win and were ultimately denied by Subiaco-Floreat, who finished 4-150 in the second innings and later lifted the flag aloft.

Hart was named Player of the Match, having shaped his club's fortunes in the biggest game of the season.
