Australian allrounder Cameron Green is set to make a return to Western Australia’s Sheffield Shield side for their final match of the season against New South Wales at Sydney’s Cricket Central.
WA Sheffield Shield Squad Set For New South Wales Showdown
The allrounder is one of four inclusions to the 13-man squad, three of which have international experience.
After missing last week’s match against Queensland, fast bowler Jhye Richardson is set to make his third appearance of the season, while allrounder Aaron Hardie has recovered from a hamstring injury that saw him miss matches against Victoria and Queensland.
Wicketkeeper Joel Curtis, who made a defiant 50 in his most recent Sheffield Shield innings against Victoria, alsoreturns to the squad in place of Josh Inglis, who will miss the match under Cricket Australia’s management plan.
Hilton Cartwright, Jayden Goodwin and Matt Kelly have been omitted from the squad that was denied victory by wet weather on the final day of last week’s match against Queensland.
Only Cameron Bancroft (608 runs) has scored more runs than Hardie (403 runs) for WA in this season’s Sheffield Shield.
Bancroft remains a chance to finish as the 2025-2026 Sheffield Shield leading run scorer, with Victorian pair Peter Handscomb and Sam Harper currently on top with 640 runs.
Experienced opening bowler Cameron Gannon’s six wickets in last week’s clash with Queensland saw him reclaim the mantle of the 2025-2026 leading wicket taker in the Sheffield Shield.
Gannon’s 38 wickets in 2025-2026 equals his previous season best from 2019-2020 when playing for Queensland.
WA sits sixth on the Sheffield Shield table on 19.29 points and is out of the running to make the season decider later this month, while this week’s opponents New South Wales are in fourth on 29.52 points.
